Frequently Asked Questions

General FAQs

Do I need a referral to schedule?

No — you can schedule directly with us. If you already have a referral from a physician, we’re happy to work from it as well.

A wide range — from acute injuries and post-surgical rehab to chronic pain, sports performance, and pelvic health. See our What We Treat page for the full list, or reach out if you don’t see your specific condition — we can usually still help.

What to Expect FAQs

What can I expect during my free discovery call?

A free discovery call is a quick phone conversation if you’d rather talk through your needs before committing to an in-person visit.  During this time we will go through a brief history of your current pain or injury and determine if you are a good fit for what we offer and allows you to determine if we are a good fit for you.

A thorough evaluation by a Doctor of Physical Therapy — not a generic intake. We look at your mechanics, movement, neuromuscular control, and strength/stability to identify what’s actually driving your symptoms, then build a plan specific to your goals.

No. Treatment is adjusted visit to visit based on how you’re progressing, not a fixed, one-size-fits-all program.

Payment FAQs

How much does physical therapy cost?

Sessions are $199 for a single hour-long visit, but as low as $160 per visit when you purchase one of our packages. We’re happy to provide a Good Faith Estimate of your total expected cost before you start — just ask during your discovery call and we will answer to the best of our abilities.  Typically we will have a better idea once we have been able to do an evaluation.

Yes – As licensed Doctors of Physical Therapy you can use your HSA or FSA to pay for our services

Insurance FAQs

Do you take insurance?

We are an out-of-network, private-pay practice. That’s a deliberate choice: it lets us give every client a full hour of one-on-one time with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, rather than splitting your visit across a schedule built around insurance reimbursement. If you have out-of-network benefits, we provide a superbill after each visit that you can submit directly to your insurance company for reimbursement.

We work to help you, not to get reimbursement from your insurance company.  Your entire session is one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy — never handed off to an aide or tech — most clients need meaningfully fewer visits to get the same or better results than at a traditional insurance-based clinic. For example, a typical course of care at Laws of Motion might be 6 visits (one hour each, one per week) versus 18 visits at a traditional clinic (three 15–20 minute visits per week) for a comparable outcome. When you factor in copays, coinsurance, and total visits, many clients pay less overall while spending far less time in the clinic.

Ask your insurance company about your out-of-network benefits (your Summary of Benefits or member portal will list your out-of-network deductible and coinsurance). At the end of each visit, we provide a superbill — a document listing your sessions and fees — that you submit to your insurer for reimbursement. You’ll pay your session fee at the time of service, and your insurer may then mail you a reimbursement check depending on your plan.

We are located in Scottsdale, AZ. For clients who can’t make it in person, our Virtual Exercise Programming service offers remote training and programming with a Laws of Motion provider but we typically do an in-person assessment first.
